OnePlus bridges distances this Diwali with ‘The Journey’

Diwali is not just a time of lights and crackers, but also a celebration of familial ties, love and relationships. This Diwali, leading smartphone maker OnePlus is bringing to you a digital short film that celebrates the joy of being close to your loved ones for festivals.
The film, conceptualized by BoringBrands, promises to take you through the myriad pulls that love exerts on human relationships. Set against the backdrop of Diwali and shot in the scenic terrains of Ladakh, this heart-warming film explores the emotions that affect human choices.
Vikas Agarwal, General Manager – India, OnePlus explains, “This Diwali, we are happy to connect with our community in a refreshing way. OnePlus has always looked at innovative ways to connect with the community. This festive season, we decided to take the road less travelled and created a short film for our fans which is a first for OnePlus in India.”
Commenting on the campaign, Anshul Sushil, Co-Founder & CEO, BoringBrands said, ‘Diwali is a time of joy, celebrations and heart-warming campaigns.  It is also an extremely crucial time for brands to go all out to vie for the consumer’s attention and wallet – a phenomenon intensified by the evolution of Digital. However, our intent with this film was to go beyond delivering a standard brand promise. We wanted to shape new conversations with consumers around this festival, and also give audiences a story that was entertaining and engaging – powerful content that not just moves them, but does so while effectively establishing the brand connect and communicating the message.
Vinay Jaiswal, Director, added, ‘Digital platforms are blurring the lines between cinema and advertisement. You have to make your content matter in this age because the viewer is looking for a story that goes beyond just brand offering. With this film, I think we have managed to seamlessly integrate both. The idea was to create a film that makes you smile, reminds you what Diwali as a festival is all about, and I think we have achieved that in a simple, yet effective manner.’
The film features Amit Sadh as the protagonist, and veteran actress Zarina Wahab, who plays his mother. This short film gives viewers a peek into the emotions that run high in an Indian household at the time of festivals, and leaves you with a sense of nostalgia and longing.
The team behind this initiative has earlier worked on films, including ‘Jai Hind’ (OYO Rooms) starring Manoj Bajpayee and Raveena Tandon, and more recently a musical, ‘Deewaren’ (Paytm), featuring seven Bollywood singers, including Sukhwinder Singh, Shaan, and Kunal Ganjawala.
